Basic Elements

Firebending- the pyrokinetic ability to control fire. Fire is the element of power, consisting of overpowering force tempered by the unflinching will to accomplish tasks and desires. Firebending draws its power from the sun, and the first human firebenders derived their firebending techniques from the dragons. Firebending is notable for its intensive attacking style and general lack of adequate defense moves.

Waterbending- one of the four elemental bending arts, is the hydrokinetic ability to control water, as well as its many forms. This type of bending is utilized by the people of the Water Tribes, who are divided into the Southern, the Northern, and the lesser known Foggy Swamp Tribe, each with their own unique bending style. Water is the element of change. The moon is the source of power in waterbending, and the original waterbenders learned by observing how the moon pushed and pulled the tides. The fighting style of waterbending is mostly fluid and graceful, acting in concert with the environment. Foggy Swamp style waterbending, however, is more rigid and straight. Waterbenders deal with the flow of energy; they let their defense become their offense, turning their opponents' own forces against them.

Airbending- is one of the four elemental bending arts, specifically, the aerokinetic ability to control and manipulate currents of air. The peaceful Air Nomads utilized this type of bending in their everyday lives. Air is the element of freedom. The Air Nomads detached themselves from worldly problems and concerns; finding peace and freedom was the key to solve their flaws in life. The key to airbending is flexibility and finding and following the path of least resistance. Airbending is notable for being almost entirely defensive, as well as the most dynamic of the four bending arts. Airbenders can overwhelm many opponents at once with large and powerful attacks that could prove fatal; however, due to the pacifist nature of the Air Nomads, such attacks are rarely used.

Earthbending- one of the four elemental bending arts, is the geokinetic ability to manipulate earth and rock, in all their various forms. It is utilized by people of the Earth Kingdom. Earth is the element of substance, making earthbenders and their people diverse, strong, persistent, and enduring. The key to earthbending is utilizing neutral jing, which involves waiting and listening for the right moment to strike and, when that moment comes, acting decisively. In other words, earthbenders generally endure their enemies' attacks until the right opportunity to counterattack reveals itself, then strike with unyielding force.

Lightbending- one of the 2 newly discovered bending arts, lightbending allows the user to harness any form of light whether it be natural (from the sun) or artificial (from lanterns) and shape it into anything they wish. They can use it to generate illusions or even make it dense and tangible, allowing them to make bindings and chains or defenses and walls. Lightbending is primarily defensive however depending on the wielder can really be used in just about any situation. A lightbender's movements and fighting style require them to be cool and level headed with almost robotic like movements. A lightbender cannot learn darkbending.

Darkbending- one of the 2 newly discovered bending arts, darkbending allows the user to harness any form of darkness whether it be shadows or complete and utter nothingness. This can be used to generate cover for sneak attacks, or as powerful and surprise offensive attacks by making the shadows tangible and sharp. Darkbending is primarily offensive however depending on the wielder can really be used in just about any situation. A darkbender's movements and fighting style are generally disturbing in appearance to many as they take on a sadistic tone and violent movements or tendencies, even sometimes going so far as to inflict pain upon themselves on purpose. A darkbender cannot learn lightbending.

Advanced Elements

Firebending

Lightningbending- is a sub-technique within firebending where firebenders are able to produce and direct a bolt of lightning from their fingertips.

Lavabending- the ability to bend molten rock and burning magma, not much else to say really.

Waterbending

Plantbending- talented waterbenders can manipulate plant life—from the highly water-saturated vines and roots found within the swamp lands and seaweed from the ocean floor—they can even rapidly regenerate the plant mass of the plants they bend.

Bloodbending- Since the human body is roughly 70% water, bloodbending does not necessarily bend blood, but the fluids in one's body, allowing the user to manipulate a body's muscles to move as they wish or to stop movement completely. (To make things fair so bloodbending isn't overpowered, you may only bend those who are 2 ranks lower than you or if you somehow acquire the target's blood from a fresh wound.)

Healing- although it does not count as an advanced element and will not take up a spot, if someone wishes to learn the healing arts they must train with a master (NPC or PC) for 24 posts each in the way of healing.

Airbending

Soundbending- a special form of airbending that allows someone to amplify or distort sound waves, even making them strong enough to cause physical damage or tune them enough so only certain people can hear a sound.

Vacuumbending- generally airbending is using air by propelling it outwards where as vacuumbending is the opposite and allows the user to bend the air to pull things toward them as well as generate implosions.

Earthbending

Sandbending- use earthbending in a specialized style, which emphasizes the manipulation of sand. Because sand is sediment which travels in flows, their style resembles air and waterbending more than earthbending.

Metalbending- is a special subset of techniques within earthbending that allows an earthbender to ferrokinetically bend processed metals much as they would bend regular earth.

Lightbending and Darkbending are fairly new elements and as such have not been expanded on. Also, they are somewhat more powerful than the other four elements and so they cannot advance any farther.
